What are Fractions?
A fraction represents a part of a whole. It consists of a numerator (top number) and a denominator (bottom number). The numerator represents how many parts we have, while the denominator represents the total number of equal parts that make up the whole.
Numerator: 3 (parts we have)
Denominator: 4 (total equal parts)
This fraction (3/4) represents three out of four equal parts, or three-quarters of the whole.

Proper Fractions
Numerator is less than denominator

Numerator is greater than or equal to denominator

Whole number and proper fraction combined
Basic Fraction Operations
+Adding Fractions with Same Denominator
Add the numerators, keep the same denominator, and simplify if needed.
-Subtracting Fractions with Same Denominator
Subtract the numerators, keep the same denominator, and simplify if needed.
×Multiplying Fractions
Multiply the numerators together, multiply the denominators together, and simplify if needed.
÷Dividing Fractions
Multiply by the reciprocal of the second fraction, and simplify if needed.
